Gateway seems to be out of business. They do not answer the phone number. There is no way to reach tech support. They no longer honor the guarantees. I have found NO WAY of contacting them. I would NEVER deal with them again. Dell seems to be much better ... for now.

This number and procedure don't work. The robot will hang up on you if you ask to see an agent, don't press any buttons, or press the wrong buttons. The robot will also hang up on you if it cannot understand your serial number if you say it...which, of course, it couldn't (we tried 3 different native speakers of English, we still were, apparently, totally unintelligible.)
However. If you dial the number and select "speak to a sales representative" you will be connected to a human in under ten minutes. This human will either transfer you or give you the real number for tech support. I'm never buying anything from Gateway ever again!

Gateways phone support is a disaster. I have spent countless hours on the phone in hold-music limbo just TRYING to get to a human. And when I get someone they can't always help and I have to spend MORE time waiting for someone who can.

Be very careful calling Gateway for anything. The customer service people really just want to get rid of you. Look up their corporate page like I did, find the phone number and call a vice-pres, got my situation fixed in 3 days after he got involved.
